Who

Showbiz spawn Mark Ronson is a music producer and turntablist to the stars.

Backstory

UK-born Ronson is the son of socialite Ann Dexter-Jones, who brought her brood to New York when Mark was eight. Ronson was living with mom and step-dad Mick Jones on Central Park West and attending Collegiate when he launched his music career, performing in a rock-funk band called the Whole Earth Mamas. He later turned to the Technics and landed his first DJ gig in the early '90s at Peter Gatien's Club USA. By the late '90s, thanks in no small part to family connections (Mick Jagger and Jann Wenner are among his family's close friends), he'd become one of the most popular DJs/social fixtures on the scene, serving as "official company DJ" to Tommy Hilfiger and the turntablist of choice for celeb-heavy events. (He also had a popular residency at the now-shuttered club Life.) Ronson remains an exceedingly popular DJ for fashion and celeb events; he's also a music producer, professional modelizer, and downtown social fixture.

Of note

His good looks, family pedigree, and musical skills have paid off nicely in recent years: He's said to have earned $80,000 DJing at Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' wedding in Italy. (In the late '90s, he made $1,000 a night.) Ronson continues to spin at venues in New York, LA, and Las Vegas, although these days his career as a music producer and recording artist is taking precedence. His producing career got off the ground with Nikki Costa; he's since worked with artists like Christina Aguilera, Lily Allen, Robbie Williams, and Ghostface Killah, and did extensive work on professional trainwreck Amy Winehouse's second album Back to Black. As far as his own work goes, Ronson released a 2007 album of covers called Version, which includes his take on Britney's "Toxic," complete with beyond-the-grave guest rapping from Ol' Dirty Bastard. The album was conveniently released on Allido, the record label he set up with manager Rich Kleiman in 2005 in a joint venture with J Records. It charted at 129 on the Billboard 200 but went double platinum in Ronson's native UK.

Family ties

His younger twin sisters are fashion designer Charlotte Ronson and DJ/singer/Lohan girlfriend Samantha Ronson, who lives in LA. "If you're 30 years or under," he once proudly quoted a magazine piece as saying, "and live in New York and you don't know the Ronsons, chances are you should get out of town."

On the side

Never one to shy away from the spotlight, Ronson was the face of DKNY's 2006 spring men's campaign.

Personal

Ronson gets around. High-profile exes include model Frankie Rayder and Rashida Jones (Quincy's daughter), who broke off her engagement with Ronson to date Josh Hartnett. In early 2008 Ronson's three-year relationship with British artist Cosi Theodoli-Braschi ended amid gossip that he was messing around with Amy Winehouse, and he's now dating teenage model Daisy Lowe. He lives with his Border collie/Lab mix Maude in a West Village apartment he purchased in 2006 for $1.8 million.
